She taught me to not let other people’s opinions define me, but to stay true to who I am. And in my own life, I’m breaking generational barriers, daring to dream bigger, to step outside of what was familiar, and to create a life, they may have once felt impossible for someone from my background. I carry my family sacrifices, and where I come from with so much pride, but I also know I’m allowed to be become something different.
